Meeting of Team Thailand Plus at Brussels

Mr. José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission

His Excellency Mr. José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, together with his spouse, will be paying an Official Visit to Thailand as Guests of the Royal Thai Government on 4 November 2012. President Barroso is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Yingluck  Shinawatra to discuss various issues, including the political and economic developments in Thailand and in the European Union (EU), the strengthening of Thai – EU relations in all aspects, the promotion of bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of capacity building, and other regional and global issues of mutual interests.

This landmark visit to Thailand is the first Official Visit ever to be paid by the President of the European Commission, one of the 3 key institutions of the EU.  The Visit therefore not only signifies the importance the EU attaches to promoting good relations with Thailand as its key partner in Southeast Asia, but equally provides an excellent opportunity for Thailand to stress the importance Thailand attaches to enhancing our relations with the EU, both as an important global player and Thailand’s key partner in trade and investment.
