On 22 April 2012, H.E. Mr. Apichart Chinwanno, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, presided over the Songkran ceremony at Wat Dhammapateep in Mechelen. Team Thailand and the Thai community, as well as friends of Thailand in Belgium and neighbouring countries had the chance to join religious ceremony and to offer food to the Buddhist monks as the Thai way to celebrate the Thai New Year or Songkran. Moreover, there were the cultural show from the Thai students of the Wat Dhammapateep School and a folk market offering Thai food and handicrafts.
