On 2 June 2013, Minister Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Mayor Renaat Landuyt of Bruges, and Mr. Jocelyn Timmermans, Honorary Consul at Antwerp, delivered opening remarks at the “Discover Thailand in Bruges” event at the Market Place, Bruges, Belgium. The Thai Learning Center (TLC), with the cooperation and support of the City of Bruges and friends of Thailand in Belgium, organized this event for the first time to promote Thai culture, tourism, as well as trade and investment opportunities in Thailand. Visitors were entertained with a variety of Thai food, fruits and vegetables, as well as Thai handicrafts and accessories. Many activities were held throughout the day, such as cultural and musical performances on stage, traditional Thai massage, Thai weaving, Thai fruit and vegetable carving, and umbrella painting. Visitors also had the chance to participate in free workshops to learn how to carve fruit and vegetables and paint Thai umbrellas.
