On 4 March 2014, Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool met with Mr. Rudolf W. Strohmeier, Deputy Director-General Research Programmes, Directorate-General for Research & Innovation, European Commission, Mr. Kostas Glinos, Head of Unit GEANT & eInfrastructures, D-G Information Society & Media, European Commission, and Mr. Pierrick Fillon-Ashida, ASEAN Desk, D-G Research & Innovation, European Commission. The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Minister, Mr. Supark Prongthura, Minister-Counsellor, Ms. Usa Kullaprawithaya, Science & Technology Attache, Ms. Urawat Sukseangdow, First Secretary, Dr. Jetsumon Prachumsri, Director of Mahidol Vivax Research Unit, Centre of Excellent for Malaria. Both sides discussed possible ways to promote greater cooperation in the area of science, technology, and joint researches between EU and Thailand, as well as ASEAN and ASEAN+3, to combat negative sides of enhanced connectivity and mobility, especially on health related issues including re-emerging and newly-emerging diseases.
