Students from La Farondole School participate in “Sawasdee Thailand!” (2014)

On Wednesday 26 March 2014, 24 Grade 4 students from La Farandole and their teacher, Mrs Robine, participated in the “Sawasdee Thailand!” (2014) project at the Royal Thai Embassy. This is the second consecutive year of the project.

Mrs. Arunrung Photong Humphreys, Minister Counsellor, welcomed the students before they learned about the daily life of a Thai student, such as how Thai students go to school, understanding why Thai students respect the Thai flag and sing the Thai National Anthem before beginning school.

In addition, students learned about Thai culture by practicing how to perform the Thai greeting “wai,” how to count numbers in Thai, tasting Thai desserts and participating in the water pouring ceremony for the Thai New Year Songkran Festival.

“Sawasdee Thailand” was initiated in 2013 and the following  5 schools are participating in this year’s project: St. Joseph, La Farandole, The European School of Brussels (Uccle),  Institut  Marie Immaculée-Montjoie, and School No. 7 Bois de la Cambre. Students from European School will visit the Embassy on Thursday 27 March 2014.
