On 18 February 2015 the Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand and the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels co-organized the “Thai Belgian Business Forum: Thailand’s New Investment Climate” at The Press Club Brussels.
Minister Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Chargé d’Affaires, delivered welcoming remarks to the Thai Belgium Business Forum followed by a comprehensive presentation on investment promotional incentives for foreign investors in Thailand by Ms Duangjai Asawachintachit, Deputy Secretary General of BOI. Ms Asawachintachit’s presentation focused on promoting R&D and value-added global supply chain investments, as well as the government’s new policy to promote the establishment of international headquarters and international trading centers in Thailand. Ms Pimchanok Vonkhorporn, Minister and Head of the Office of Commercial Affairs in Brussels, also presented on the opportunities for Belgian businesses from the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
About 45 people from private and government sectors in Belgium attended the event which ended with a Q&A session and a networking reception.
This year’s event is the second in the series of Thai Belgian Business Forum and aimed to provide an update on the government’s new investment scheme. The first “Thai Belgian Business Forum: One Year After” was launched in 2014 to follow-up on the progress of bilateral economic relations one year after the highly successful Economic Mission to Thailand led by then Crown Prince Philippe in March 2013.
Prior to the forum, Ms. Asawachintachit and her delegation visited Soudal, one of the biggest independent producers of sealants, foams and adhesives in Europe.
