Thailand’s Statement on the Situation of Irregular Migration in the Mediterranean
Thailand is saddened to learn of the traffic incident of 18 April 2015, whereby a boat carrying migrants capsized in the Mediterranean and as many as 700 people were reported to have been lost. This tragedy, together with other previous similar incidents which claimed many other hundreds of lives, confirms an urgent need for a new European Migration Agenda to address this humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean.
To this end, Thailand urges the EU and its Member States to address in a comprehensive manner the situation of irregular migration in the Mediterranean as well as incidents at sea involving migrants and refugees. The EU and its Member States should also work with concerned parties to address these issues at their root cause to achieve a durable solution.
แถลงการณ์ของกรณีการโยกย้ายถิ่นฐานแบบไม่ปกติในทะเลเมดิเตอร์เรนียน
ไทยรู้สึกเสียใจกับกรณีโศกนาฏกรรม เมื่อวันที่ 18 เมษายน 2558 ซึ่งเรือขนผู้โยกย้ายถิ่นฐานพลิกคว่ำในทะเลเมดิเตอร์เรเนียน ซึ่งส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตประมาณ 700 ราย โศกนาฏกรรมทางทะเลที่เกิดขึ้นในครั้งนี้และกรณีก่อนหน้าเป็นเครื่องยืนยันถึงความจำเป็นเร่งด่วนสำหรับการมีแผนงานด้านนโยบายย้ายถิ่นฐานของยุโรปฉบับใหม่ เพื่อแก้ไขวิกฤตด้านมนุษยธรรมในทะเลเมดิเตอร์เรเนียน
ไทยขอเรียกร้องให้อียูและรัฐสมาชิกจัดการกับสถานการณ์การโยกย้ายถิ่นฐานแบบไม่ปกติในทะเลเมดิเตอร์เร-เนียนและกรณีเหตุการณ์ทางทะเลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับผู้โยกย้ายถิ่นฐานและลี้ภัยอย่างครอบคลุม อียูและรัฐสมาชิกควรร่วมกับฝ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องในการแก้ปัญหาที่ต้นเหตุเพื่อบรรลุแนวทางแก้ปัญหาอย่างยั่งยืน
