Thailand becomes the 100th Contracting Party to the Revised Kyoto Convention

Ambassador hosted a meeting between the Chairperson of the NHRCT and MEPs

 

On June 3rd, 2015, Ambassador Nopadol Gunavibool hosted a dinner in honour of Professor Dr Amara Pongsapich, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT), who, by the invitation of the European Union to attend The European Development Days forum on global cooperation and development “European Year for Development (EYD 2015)”, is currently visiting Brussels.

For this occasion, the Ambassador invited Ms Neena Gill, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the United Kingdom and a member of the ASEAN sub-committee of the European Parliament (EP), and Professor Dr Klaus Buchner, MEP for Germany and a member of the human rights sub-committee of the EP, to join the dinner and exchange views with the Chairperson of the NHRCT. During the meeting, both sides had the opportunity to discuss various topics, including, human right issues of Thailand and the EU, the political development in Thailand, Thailand’s measures to resolve the problems of illegal fishing and undocumented labour in the fishing industry, and other issues of mutual interests. The other participants of the dinner include Mr Poowadol Weerawedphisai, Director of International Human Rights Affair Bureau of NHRCT, Ms Sanne De Meyer, MEP Gill’s assistant for foreign affairs, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, and officials at the Royal Thai Embassy.
