Board of Investment of Thailand and Royal Thai Embassy co-organize the “4th Thai Belgian Business Forum : Opportunity Thailand 2017” at Press Club Brussels

 

On 9 March 2017, the Board of Investment (BOI) of Thailand and the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels co-organized the “4th Thai Belgian Business Forum : Opportunity Thailand 2017” at the Press Club Brussels.   Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Charge d’Affaires, welcomed the participants to the forum and gave an update on situation in Thailand.

Ms. Duangjai Asawachintachit, Deputy Secretary General of BOI, gave a presentation non Thailand’s investment policies highlighting the country’s strengths of a business friendly environment and strategic location as a gateway to the ASEAN Economic Community.    She also presented the Thai government’s “Thailand 4.0” campaign, which aims to increase the country’s competitiveness and growth potential of the economy in the long run through innovation, and therefore would be an attractive choice for businesses looking to expand RnD operations in the region.

Mr. Nissana Thaveepanit, Minister-Counselor of the Office of Commercial Affairs (based in the  Hague) gave a presentation about trade opportunities for Belgium and Thailand; Thailand continues to be a source of high quality manufactured and processed food products.   Mr. Rungsarith Phathanathong, Minister of the Office of Customs Affairs in Brussels, gave a briefing on the Thai customs procedure and how it can support the investors.

Finally, Mr. Patrick Lavens, New Business Development & Innovations Director of INVE Aquaculture, also presented about the company’s long experiences in doing business in Thailand, the friendly business environment in the country and how investors can connect to other countries in the region, to be a testimonial of the investment opportunity in Thailand.

After the presentations, there was a Q&A session followed by a networking reception. There were approximately 60 participants to the event.

This year’s event is the forth in the series of the Thai-Belgian Business Forum which has been organized every year since 2014. It aimed to provide participants with updated information about Thailand and its latest investment policies.
