H.E. Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted a reception on the Occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand on 4th December 2017, at Wiltcher’s Steigenberger Hotel Brussels. The event was attended by over 350 guests including the Honourable Mr. Georges Dallemagne, President of the Belgian-Thai bilateral section of the Belgian Inter-Parliamentary Union, who delivered kind remarks about the long-lasting friendship between Thailand and Belgium. In his remarks, Ambassador Manasvi Srisodapol noted that on 5th December in Thailand, the Thai people join in to celebrate the Birthday Anniversary of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the National Day of Thailand as well as the nation’s Father’s Day. Furthermore, 5th December was declared “World Soil Day” by the UN General Assembly in recognition of HM the late King Bhumibol’s work on soil conservation – an issue highly relevant today in many countries dependent on agriculture. Ambassador also announced there would be a series of activities planned for the year 2017 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between Thailand and Belgium. Guests were invited to enjoy Thai cultural dance performances courtesy of Thai Airways International, live music performed by Thai music students in Belgium, and last but not least, delicious Thai food, fruits and sweets.
