Tourism Department to raise quality of tourist destinations

BANGKOK, 4th January 2018 (NNT) – The Department of Tourism has collaborated with all sectors to raise the quality of tourist attractions while ensuring that tourism revenue will be generated in all areas.

The Tourism and Sports Minister, Weerasak Kowsurat, delivered a tourism development policy at a brainstorming session to determine the framework for developing and restoring tourist attractions nationwide.

The session was attended by the Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Sports, the Director-General of the Department of Tourism, and representatives from over 20 government and private agencies.

Mr. Weerasak said tourism is a high-growing industry, which is very important to the Thai economy. He said developing deteriorating tourist attractions is necessary, and requires more systemic cooperation from the government and the public sector.
