Bilateral Meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Belgium

On 5 March 2018, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, paid a visit to Belgium and had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Belgium, at the Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Belgium in Brussels.

           The two Foreign Ministers had a substantive discussion on various issues, including, economic cooperation on trade and investment, particularly opportunities along the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), STI and tourism cooperation, bilateral agreements such as Extradition Treaty and the Social Security Agreement, possibilities of trilateral cooperation in developing countries in the areas of sustainable development (SEP for SDG), Thailand’s support to Belgium’s bid for non-permanent member of UN Security Council for 2019-2020 and on regional and global issues, including ASEAN-EU relations, the situation in Rakhine, Cambodia, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
          The meeting between the two Foreign Ministers took place at a momentous time, as this year marks the 150th Anniversary of the Signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce between Belgium and Thailand, during which the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand presented the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Belgium with the commemorative stamps, produced under the cooperation of the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels and BPost, to celebrate this special occasion.
