Denchai-Chiang Rai-Chiang Khong rail project approved

BANGKOK, 31 July 2018 (NNT) – The cabinet approved Denchai-Chiang Rai-Chiang Khong dual-track rail project, with the construction expected to commence next year.

Nattaporn Jatusripitak, assistant to a Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that the Denchai-Chiang Rai-Chiang Khong dual-track rail project was approved during the weekly cabinet meeting.

The construction for the 323-kilometer rail project is expected to get started next year, with the launch of the project scheduled for 2022.

The railway will have 26 stations and go through four tunnels. It will be constructed under three contracts, starting with Denchai-Ngao section, followed by Ngao-Chiang Rai section and finally by Chiang Rai-Chaing Khong section.
