Ambassador of Thailand gave welcoming remarks at the EU Organic Market : Export opportunities and challenges Seminar

On 27 August 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, in cooperation with the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS), organized a seminar entitled “EU Organic Market: Export Opportunities and Challenges” at Centara Grand Lardprao in Bangkok, Thailand.

H.E. Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of Thailand gave welcoming remarks along with H.E. Mr. Pirkka Tapiola, Ambassador of European Union to Thailand and Miss Doojduan Sasanavin, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

The objective of the seminar is to introduce the new EU Regulation (No. 2018/848) regarding Organic Production and Labeling of Organic Products, and how it will affect organic producers and exporters looking to enter the European market. The seminar, which was attended by 150 participants from relevant public and private sector, helps promote EU-Thailand cooperation and enhance Thailand’s capacity to produce and export organic products to the European market.

The Embassy invited Mrs. Elena Panichi, Deputy Head of Unit (Organic) from DG AGRI, European Commission, to give her insight on EU organic market and opportunities for Thai organic products in the EU, as well as an overview of the new EU Regulation on Organic Production and Labeling of Organic Products.

The seminar was also complemented by study visits to “Thailand Organic” certified organic farms and a meeting with ACFS on future cooperation between Thailand and the EU on organic products.
