Foreign Investor Confidence in Thailand

Thailand is still attractive to foreign investors. A recent survey shows that foreign investor confidence in Thailand in 2018 is the highest in five years, at 98.5 percent, according to the Board of Investment (BOI).

The survey was conducted among 600 companies. It indicated that 33 percent of the surveyed foreign investors planned to expand their investment in Thailand, while another 65.5 percent would retain their present level of investment. Only 1.5 percent of the respondents said that they would reduce their investment.

There are several factors encouraging investors to expand their investment here. A total of 54.7 percent said that Thailand has sufficient raw materials. Around 50.8 percent stated that there are enough suppliers, while 44.5 percent said that tax incentives are a positive factor.

Moreover, supporting industries, in terms of enough parts, raw materials, and suppliers, are further strengths of Thailand. In this regard, BOI and other relevant agencies have developed supporting industries on a continual basis. New measures have also been issued by BOI for investment promotion in response to business environment.

Apart from promotional privileges offered by BOI, investors also showed their satisfaction with the Center for Visas and Work Permits and the One Start One Stop Investment Center, as well as online data and quick services.

The Government has continued to improve the investment-friendly environment in order to retain the country’s position as one of the most preferred investment destinations.
