On 13 December 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy organized an MOU signing ceremony between the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) of Thailand and the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) at the Residence of the Ambassador of Thailand. The MOUs were signed by Dr. Somvong Tragoonrung, Executive Director of BIOTEC, and Prof.Dr. Stephan Declerck, Director of Belgian Co-ordinated Collections of Microorganisms (BBCM), which is the cooperation between UCL and the Belgian Federal Science and Policy Office (BELSPO). Also present at the ceremony were H.E. Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, Dr. Manop Sittidech, Minister-Counselor, Head of Office of Science and Technology, Ms. Marleen Bosschaerts, Deputy Director of Research, BELSPO, and Dr. Philippe Desmeth, International Cooperation Coordinator, BELSPO. The objective of the MOU is to strengthen, promote and enhance cooperation of BIOTEC and UCL in the areas of agricultural research and biotechnology.
