On Sunday 8th September 2019 the Royal Thai Embassy organised the 13th annual Thai festival in Brussels, “Essence of Thailand” at Place Dumon in Stockel. The Ambassador of Thailand and the Honourable Mr. Benoît Cerexhe, Mayor of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, presided over the opening of the event which was also graced by the presence of HRH Princess Léa and members of the diplomatic community and Friends of Thailand.
With this year’s theme being “Seven Flavors of Thailand”, the event featured more than 60 food and merchandise vendors and on-stage cultural performances, with the highlight being marionette shows by young puppeteers from Thailand depicting scenes from the Ramayana epic and Thai folklore. The event witnessed one of the highest number of turnouts at over 10,000 people, which once again reaffirmed the closeness between the Thai and Belgian communities.
