On 11 February 2020, H.E. Mrs. Busaya Mathelin, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the EU-ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) in Brussels. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific, European External Action Service, and H.E. Mr. Stanley Loh, Second Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore. The Meeting was attended by officials from all 27 EU and 10 ASEAN Member States, as well as by representatives from the European Commission and the ASEAN Secretariat. The participants exchanged views on recent developments in the EU and ASEAN, cooperation between EU and ASEAN as well as views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and concern.
On the sideline of the meeting, the Permanent Secretary had bilateral meetings with Mr. Koen Doens, Director-General of the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development, Mr. Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific, European External Action Service, Mr. Soe Han, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and Mr. Peter Power, Head of Cabinet of the Commissioner for Trade.
