On 2 July 2020, H.E. Mr. Manasvi Srisodapol, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Alexandre Vandersmissen, Acting Mayor of Mechelen. During the said meeting, the Ambassador of Thailand expressed interest in organizing events with Mechelen, being known for its openness and cultural diversity. The Ambassador also thanked Mechelen for supporting and facilitating activities of the Dhammaprateep Temple, which has helped promote well-being and served as spiritual sanctuary for the 2,000-3,000 Thais and Belgians in the region.
