On 28 October 2020, the Ambassador of Thailand delivered the opening remarks for the Thai Trade Talks series at the Press Club Brussels Europe. The seminar, organized by the Thai Commercial Office in Brussels for the first time, was attended by over 90 participants who attended both in person and online. On this occasion, Ambassador Manasvi Srisodapol highlighted the importance of Thailand – European Union trade and investment relations. In 2019, two-way trade was worth 33.2 million euros. Thailand also has wide-ranging cooperation with the EU on sustainable development, including the combating of IUU fishing, enhancing labour rights (through the Thailand – EU labour dialogue), and the ongoing negotiations of the FLEGT-VPA Agreement to combat illegal logging. Such cooperation serves as a strong foundation for the possible resumption of FTA negotiations. During the discussions, the panelists and participants from the EU side underscored the timeliness of resuming the FTA negotiations between Thailand and the EU.
