On 7 July 2021, H.E. Mr. Sek Wannamethee, Ambassador of Thailand gave an opening remark at an online seminar on “Keeping up with European Green Deal, what Thai exporters need to know!” EP1: Circular Economy together with Dr. Nilsuwan Leelarasamee, Chairman of Sub-committee on Trade Regulations and Multilateralism, and Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of Industrial Promotion Support from The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). The seminar was organized by Sub-committee on Trade Regulations and Multilateralism and Working group on Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) model.
On this occasion, Ambassador Sek highlighted important issues and measures under the European Green Deal, including measures to reduce carbon emissions on heavy industries as well as to increase the use of renewable energy, and also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the European Union in relevant areas and sectors. This was followed by an informative session on the European Green Deal and its impact on Thailand presented by representatives from the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Embassy Brussels, respectively, in order to raise awareness, understanding and implications of the European Green Deal for Thai stakeholders who participated in the seminar.
