Travelling to Thailand ( Alternative Quarantine/ AQ )

***LATEST UPDATE 

Travellers arriving in Thailand from 1 October 2021 onwards will be subject to quarantine

-no less than 7 days for those who have been fully vaccinated by the approved vaccines, namely

  • Coronavac (Sinovac)
  • Sinopharm or COVILO
  • AstraZeneca or Covishield
  • Pfizer-BioNTech or Comirnaty
  • Moderna
  • Janssen ( Johnson & Johnson)
  • Sputnik V

-no less than 10 days for those who have not received any vaccination or not been fully vaccinated.

*** Unvaccinated children aged below 18 years old  have to follow the conditions of their accompanying parents ( documents indicating the relationship between children and parents must be uploaded in the COE application).  Please do not upload vaccination certificates if the children do not have one. The system will automatically calculate from the age inserted.***

*** Travellers whose date of arrival in Thailand is from 1 October 2021 onwards can utilise the COE issued before 28 September 2021 to enter Thailand despite the 14-day quarantine being stated on the COE. Upon arrival at the airport in Thailand, Disease Control Officers will verify the vaccination documents and re-calculate the quarantine period to 7 or 10 days according to the conditions abovementioned. Please prepare the proof of vaccination such as a vaccination certificate to present to the Disease Control officers.

* Non Thai-nationals are no longer required to present a Fit-to-fly certificate.  However, all travellers must check with the air operators about the covid-19 test (negative) requirement prior to boarding.

 ** From 14 January 2021 onwards, all travelers to Thailand, after receiving their COE, are required to download and register on “ThailandPlus” application. You will be required to present your registration on “ ThailandPlus” upon your arrival in Thailand. Should you have any problem regarding the application, please contact the staff at the airport in Thailand.

Procedure of the Certificate of Entry (COE) application 

1.Travelling to Thailand

    • At present, certain air operators are permitted to operate semi-commercial flights to Thailand, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, Thai Airways, Lufthansa Austrian, Airlines, Swiss Air, KLM, Air France and Cathay Pacific. 2. Quarantine measures

2.1   All travellers arriving in Thailand are required to undergo a 7-day or 10-day quarantine at:

          (1) Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) facility or Alternative Local Quarantine (ALQ) in Chonburi & Prachinburi (for those arriving in Bangkok)

          (2) Alternative Local Quarantine (ALQ) in Phuket (for travelers arriving in Phuket only)

  

***Please be noted that SQ quota is no longer available from July 2021 onwards***

 2.2  How to reserve ASQ :

Reservation must be made for “ASQ/ALQ package “ for 7 nights at the travellers’ own expenses.

Reservations can be done through the following approved platforms :

  1. Hotels on the list of ASQ
  2. https://www.agoda.com/quarantineth

  4. https://asq.ascendtravel.com/

Remarks  : Travelers arrving at Suvarnnabhumi Airport or Don Muang Airport may reserve ALQ in Chonburi or Prachinburi only.

                      Travelers arriving in Phuket may reserve ALQ in Phuket or Pang-Nga only.

 

 3.  Required documents

    3.1 Valid Passport

    3.2 Certificate of Entry (COE)

    3.3 flight ticket

    3.4 Alternative Quarantine (AQ) booking confirmation on arrival date

    3.6 Depending on the air operators’ condition (Medical certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID -19 is not detected)

 

4. How to apply for a Certificate of Entry (COE)

Thai nationals who reside in Belgium and Luxembourg may apply for a Certificate of Entry (ONLINE) with the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels on https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/  Those residing in other countries should submit their applications with their respective Royal Thai Embassies. *** Applicants must read the instructions and the registration guidelines carefully*** 

*** Important note***

  • Please apply for COE online 3-4 weeks before your scheduled departure  (applications submitted above 4 weeks before departure may have to be resubmitted). 

There will be two steps for the COE application: registration and COE approval.

  • For registration

Note : Applicants will receive a 6-digit code. Applicants must take note of this code which is needed for checking the status of their applications.

    • Fill out personal information in the blanks
    • Copy of passport

*The Embassy may refuse the registration if documents are missing or incomplete. The applicant will be asked to edit or provide  documents as requested by clicking the Yellow icon “Edit personal information” on https://coethailand.mfa.go.th

  • For approval stage
    • Flight confirmation
    • Confirmation of Alternative Quarantine (AQ) hotel booking (or ALQ/AHQ/ GQ confirmation). Please ensure that the duration of stay, travellers’ names and other personal information such as  a passport number are expressly stated on ASQ hotel confirmation letter. Booking should be made for “ASQ package” directly with the approved ASQ hotel. Click here for the list of ASQ hotels.

Remarks :  The COE is issued for specific flight and ASQ. If the applicant changes the flight and/or ASQ after receiving the COE, he/she must contact the Royal Thai Embassy for a new COE.
