Tourist Visa

Belgian citizens visiting Thailand for tourism can enter Thailand without a Visa and stay for 30 days, provided they are in the possession of a return airline ticket and of a passport that is still valid for at least 6 months.

Belgian tourists, who wish to stay longer than 30 days, have to apply for a tourist Visa at the Embassy or a Thai Consulate BEFORE leaving to Thailand.

The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to announce that starting 13 November 2015, with the purpose of facilitation tourism to Thailand, the Royal Thai Government will implement a new tourist visa scheme allowing for the following types of tourist visas to will be made available for all foreign nationals:

  1. Single Entry Tourist Visa, valid for a 3 months period, for a stay up to 60 days per entry ( with the possibility to extend for another 30 days at on of  the Immigration offices in Thailand) 
  2. Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), valid for a 6 months period, for a stay up to 60 days per entry

Applicants for the above-mentioned visas are required to submit the following documents (PER person) for the Embassy’s consideration on https://thaievisa.go.th/:

  1. passport that is still valid for at least 6 months 
  2. Applicant’s identity photo, taken within the last 6 months
  3. Declaration form ( Download here) 
  4. Belgian/Luxembourg identity card (or resident card in Belgium/Luxembourg)
  5. Travel booking confirmation
    •  The reservation of the flight tickets in and out of Thailand
    •  For the METV, the reservation of the flight tickets in and out of Thailand on a regular basis
  6. Proof of accommodation in Thailand
    • a confirmed hotel reservation (confirmation for at least half of your stay !) OR
    • an invitation letter from a person in Thailand with a full address and the host’s identity card + House Registration ( Tabian Baan) or rental contract/lease agreement (all of which must be “Certified True Copy”, signed, and dated).
  7. Financial evidence e.g. bank statement or sponsorship letter
    • Last 3-month bank statement with a minimum balance of 700 Euros (Single Entry Tourist Visa) *must expressly mention name and date ( no more than 7 days before the application date or
    • Last 6-month bank statement with a minimum balance of 6,000 Euros (for the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) *must expressly mention name and date ( no more than 7 days before the application date
    • Sponsorship letter, sponsor’s ID card, and sponsor’s bank statement
  8. Passport page(s) which contain international travel records for the past 12 months
  9. Picture of the applicant holding and showing  the info page of the applicant’s passport ( to identify if the applicant’s face is the same person as the passport holder)
  10. If you are unemployed: a proof of income/earnings (document from unemployment benefit, pension or copy of your latest bank statement, etc.)

Applicants less than 18 years old are required to submit the following documents
in addition to the above (PER person)
:

  • the identity cards of BOTH parents
  • the birth certificate
  • BOTH parents must write a letter of consent for the child to travel

The Embassy is in the process of requesting additional sections from the Thai e-visa web developer, which may take some time. In the meantime, applicants may upload the rest of the required documents where deemed appropriate or in the same section as other documents. It is important to upload all required documents in order for your application to be processed in a timely manner.

Special Tourist Visa (STV)

(valid until 30 September 2022)

The STV is issued to travelers to Thailand for tourism purposes only.
The STV scheme is valid for a single entry.
The STV is valid for 3 months from the date of issue, allowing the traveller to stay in Thailand up to 90 days. The visa can be extended twice, each extension allowing the traveller to stay up to 90 days.
The STV can not be changed to other types of visa during the stay in Thailand.

Documents to be provided for approval:

  1. passport that is still valid for at least 12 months 
  2. Applicant’s identity photo, taken within the last 6 months
  3. Declaration form ( Download here) 
  4. Belgian/Luxembourg identity card (or resident card in Belgium/Luxembourg)
  5. Travel booking confirmation
    •  The reservation of the flight tickets in and out of Thailand
    •  For the METV, the reservation of the flight tickets in and out of Thailand on a regular basis
  6. Proof of accommodation in Thailand
    • Evidence of long-stay accommodation:
      • Condominium title deed, or
      • Hotel reservation (s) (after quarantine), fully paid, for the entire period of stay, or
      • Rental contract, fully paid, for the entire period of stay, or
      • Leasing or hire-purchase agreement of a condominium
  7. Passport page(s) which contain international travel records for the past 12 months
  8. Criminal record, dated no more than 3 months ( translated in English)
  9. Medical certificate, certifying that applicant is does not have prohibitive diseases, dated no more than 3 months. ( Download the form here )
  10. A  valid health insurance certificate which covers the following medical expenses :
    • cover at least 90 days (from your arrival date) or the whole period of stay in Thailand and expressly indicate
      • outpatient fees of not less than 40,000 THB
      • inpatient fees of not less than 400,000 THB
      • cover all medical expenses including COVID-19 of at least
        USD 100,000
    • Travelers  can  purchase an insurance from a Thai insurance company on https://longstay.tgia.org/
  11. Confirmed AQ/ SHA+ reservation
  12. Picture of the applicant holding  the info page of the applicant’s passport ( to identify if the applicant’s face is the same person as the passport holder)
  13. Visa processing fee: 70 Euro
